Dr. Yoram Hazony

Dr. Yoram Hazony is president of the Herzl Institute in Jerusalem and director of the John Templeton Foundation's project in Jewish Philosophical Theology. He is the author of The Virtue of Nationalism, an Amazon #1 best-seller in both International Diplomacy and Nationalism. Dr. Hazony's previous books include The Philosophy of Hebrew Scripture (2012), which won the second place PROSE award for the best book in the category of Theology and Religion by the Association of American Publishers; The Jewish State: The Struggle for Israel’s Soul (2000); and God and Politics in Esther (2016). His work has appeared in the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, Fox News, CNN,NPR, TIME, Mosaic, National Review, Commentary, First Things, American Affairs, and Hashiloach. In 1994, Dr. Hazony founded and headed the Shalem Center, which in 2013 was accredited to grant Israel’s first Liberal Arts B.A., and formally became Shalem College. He served as president of Shalem from 1994-2002, and as provost from 2005-2012.
