Prior to Monday’s press conference, there was a certain degree of hopeful speculation in some quarters that President Trump and Prime Minister Netanyahu were heading for a collision or, at least, that they would find that they had serious differences of opinion about the issues at hand. That this was not the outcome has led to some confusion; for the most extreme, it merely confirms their belief that Israel exercises some sort of nefarious control over the American government.
