Kohen, King, Rabbi, Rosh Yeshiva: Models of Jewish Leadership from the Maccabees to Today
By Rabbi Meir SoloveichikFor Jewish leaders, the ability to build relationships with real people with unique identities is just as important as scholarship and knowledge.
In the inaugural Rabbi Allan Mirvis Lecture, Rabbi Soloveichik explains what makes great Jewish leaders. To him, it is the ability to recognize and build up the identities of individuals, and not just scholarship and wisdom, that makes Jewish leaders succeed. He contrasts the duties of Jewish priests and kings with the current roles of roshei yeshiva [professors of Talmud] and pulpit rabbis
This lecture was given at Yeshiva University on December 21, 2014.
