A Strong Showing for Orthodox Jews in New York
The state legislature gets a minyan.
While Tuesday’s elections led to victories for enemies of the Jews in New Jersey, Michigan, and elsewhere, there was some good news for Jews in New York, where there will now be ten Orthodox Jews in the state legislature. Or as David Greenfield, director of the Met Council, one of New York City’s largest Jewish charities, put it, “a minyan.” The Queens assemblyman Sam Berger told Rebecca Szlechter:
