By Holding On to Power, Hamas Can Snatch Victory from the Jaws of Defeat

The tunnel trap.

On Sunday, Bassem Naim, a member of the Hamas politburo, said that the terrorist group would consider an arrangement to “freeze or store” its weapons and accept a five- or ten-year truce with Israel as a way to fulfill—or, perhaps better, to circumvent—the current cease-fire deal. The same day, Benjamin Netanyahu expressed his desire to move ahead with the second phase of the deal, which would entail a multinational force that would take part in demilitarizing Gaza.
