Yesterday, an Israeli airstrike on the Beirut suburb of Dahiya—a major Hizballah stronghold—killed the group’s number two, Haytham Ali Tabatabai. The U.S. has offered a $5 million award for information about Tabatabai since 2016. While there appears to have been an increase in the tempo of IDF attacks on Hizballah infrastructure in southern Lebanon in recent weeks, this is the first time Israel has targeted Beirut since June.
