Do the Torah and Moral Philosophy Have Anything to Say to Each Other?

Remembering the great student of virtue.

Last week, the eminent Scottish-American philosopher Alasdair MacIntyre died at the age of ninety-six. A few years ago, Abraham Socher wrote some Jewish reflections on repentance inspired by MacIntyre’s writings on virtue, which prompted a back-and-forth between the two of us. (You can read the whole thing starting here.) MacIntyre, of course, was not a Jewish philosopher, but he did write an essay about the Torah and moral philosophy.
