Even If the Islamic Republic of Iran Survives the War, It Might Not Survive Its Aftermath

The straw that breaks the camel’s back.

There is a line of interpretation of the war with Iran that warns against putting too much stock in Israeli and American tactical accomplishments: targets struck, officers and leaders killed, military stockpiles and industrial facilities destroyed. Impressive as such achievements are, the thinking goes, they do not necessarily translate to strategic success and might not be enough to break the will of what’s left of the regime.
