How India Sees the Iran War

Tehran has sided with Pakistan and against India in the Kashmir conflict.

Just before Israeli and American jets began their attacks on Iran, Prime Minister Narendra Modi returned to India after an official visit to the Jewish state. The good relations between Jerusalem and New Delhi are themselves connected to India’s gradual movement into the U.S.-led alliance system. Many factors work in favor of such an alignment, but above all India shares America’s worries about an ascendant China. Yet India has better relations with China’s anti-American partners, Russia and Iran. In fact, Modi has been under pressure from his left to condemn the killing of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
