On Saturday, Tehran issued Washington a list of far-fetched demands, claiming that it will only open the Strait of Hormuz if all are met. The U.S., meanwhile, still appears reluctant to achieve its aims with force. Participating in the ongoing diplomatic dance is Oman, which has served as a mediator between Iran and the West for many years, and has now positioned itself to gain from any effort to impose tolls on the Strait.
