For some time, analysts have debated whether the terrorist organization had been strengthened or weakened by its extensive involvement in the Syrian civil war. Nadav Pollak argues that, so far, Hizballah’s losses have been offset by its gains: it can put more fighters in the field than previously and accumulated crucial offensive experience and familiarity with sophisticated weaponry. Also, through close coordination with the Russian military, its officers have learned how a technologically advanced modern military—like Israel’s—operates.
