On Monday, Lebanon announced a ban on all Hizballah activities within its borders. The declaration is, at present, nothing more than that: it is unclear if Beirut has either the will or the ability to root out the Iran-controlled terrorist militia. (Still, it’s worth noting reports that the Lebanese army arrested twelve armed Hizballah members yesterday.) But the mere fact that the country’s official government—as opposed to Hizballah, which is the de-facto ruler in many areas—had the courage to make such a declaration suggests significant change is on the horizon.
