But that very weight raises the question of why this city matters quite so much. This is the subject Norman Podhoretz took up in his 2007 essay “Jerusalem: The Scandal of Particularity.” To commemorate Podhoretz’s career, I’m going to be sharing one of his essays every day for the next several days; this is the first.
