We will not remain silent about weapons in Lebanon that are outside the control of the government.” This was a not-so-subtle reference to Hizballah, the Iranian proxy that had exerted de-facto control over the country until the devastating Israeli attacks of last year. In the past, Lebanese politicians have been killed for this sort of rhetoric.
