Since 2023, anti-Israel protesters have repeatedly attempted to obstruct roads and bridges, and caused other forms of serious public disruption, not to mention numerous acts of vandalism—taking a cue from extreme environmentalists and other radicals. Tal Fortgang calls for stricter laws to prevent and to punish these acts of what he dubs “civil terrorism,” and argues that such legislation would in no way imperil First Amendment rights:
