The Benefits of the Israel-Lebanon Deal

Concessions from Hizballah, and none from Jerusalem.

The same question—who won?—needs to be asked about the latest confrontation between the IDF and Hizballah, and can also be asked about the broader war between the two that has taken place since October 8, 2023. While Beirut and Jerusalem, unlike Washington and Tehran, have reached an agreement, it might not completely stop the fighting. After all, the Tehran-backed terrorist group isn’t a party to the deal, and Israel will strike it if threatened. Robert Satloff is sanguine about the terms, even if he is realistic about the agreement’s limits:
