Which faiths will King Charles defend?

Since the 16th century, the title “defender of the faith”—first accorded by the pope—has been attached to English monarchs. While Charles III is no exception, he recently clarified that he sees his role as protecting “the space for faith within the multi-faith nation,” along with serving as titular head of the Church of England. Howard Jacobson, while steering clear of the implications for that church’s believers, comments:
