The Inaction of Australian Police and the Accommodation of Anti-Semitism

Everywhere could be Sydney for the Jews.

In Monday’s email, I mentioned Ahmed al Ahmed, the Syrian immigrant who, unarmed, tackled and disarmed one of the Bondi shooters, and was himself wounded in the process. There were other heroic actions as well: it seems that ordinary Australians successfully prevented a third terrorist from joining in the attack. And then there is fourteen-year-old Chaya Mushka Dadon who, after being shot herself, threw herself on two younger children to protect them from bullets. Al Ahmed, Dadon, and the two children all survived. Less heroic is the behavior of some of the police at the scene, a few of whom can be seen on video taking cover rather than trying to stop the carnage. John Podhoretz writes:
