Yesterday, a Palestinian terrorist stabbed at least eleven people in Jaffa and another stabbed an Israeli civilian in Petaḥ Tikvah; in Jerusalem, a motorcyclist opened fire on border police. Such attacks, although commonplace by now, are often still described in Israeli and Western media as examples of “lone-wolf terror.” While it’s true that the perpetrators tend not to belong to terrorist cells, and usually execute the attacks on their own, Hirsh Goodman argues that they are anything but random or spontaneous:
