To Ensure Peace, Keep Qatar Out of Gaza
Doha is poised to pay the spoiler.
Qatari pressure almost certainly induced Hamas to release the remaining hostages and agree to the cease-fire terms; this suggests that Doha could have exerted such pressure much earlier, and chose not to. Now the peninsular emirate, which contributed so much to the present crisis, is a party to the Israel-Hamas deal, and set to have an even greater role in Gaza than it had before the war.
