The most successful military failure in modern history.
In the 2010s, the IDF began what came to be known as the “War Between the Wars,” a campaign to undermine and degrade Iranian efforts to build up forces—and especially drone and missile arsenals—on Israel’s borders, primarily in Syria. For the most part, this war involved airstrikes on weapons factories and depots, and on transports bringing supplies and equipment from Iran into Syria and Lebanon. The name implies that there was a war beforehand—the 2006 war with Hizballah—as well as a war afterward, which turned out to be the one that began on October 7, 2023.
