Countless commentators have noted the absence of mass demonstrations on college campuses in solidarity with the Iranian protesters being slaughtered by the government—in contrast to the reaction to the Israeli war in Gaza. But in a certain sense there is no hypocrisy here at all. Rather, the anti-Israel movement has a consistent worldview that leads its members to support—or at least never to criticize—the Islamic Republic of Iran. Zineb Riboua describes this worldview:
