Recently, the workers’ union at the Israeli office of Amdocs—a Missouri-based software company—threatened to call a strike if management does not accede to its demands. The threat is evidence of the success of the Histadrut—Israel’s enormously powerful umbrella organization of trade unions—in extending its reach into the country’s fabled high-tech sector.
