A Classic Diary of Holocaust Survival, at Last Available in English

A Jew in the Woods.

Born in what is now Lithuania, Berl Kagan (1911–1993) was a lifelong Zionist activist and journalist, and the author of biographical dictionaries of Yiddish literature that remain crucial reference works, a major work of Hebrew bibliography, and many other books. He and his wife Raja survived World War II by fleeing the Kovno ghetto in 1943 for the forests, and his journal of that experience has recently been published in English translation.
