Jordan Still Won’t Extradite a Terrorist Who Murdered Americans

Diplomatic will is needed.

The first woman to serve officially as a Hamas operative was, in fact a journalism student with a part-time job as a newscaster. Ahlam Tamimi, twenty-one at the time, helped plan and execute the August 2001 Sbarro suicide bombing, which left sixteen dead and many others wounded—one of the most gruesome attacks of the second intifada. In 2011, Tamimi was released along with Yahya Sinwar and hundreds other convicted terrorists, in exchange for the Israeli hostage Gilad Shalit. Since then she has lived in Jordan.
