Mourning an Orthodox Leader Admired by All

Rabbi Moshe Hauer, of blessed memory.

At the end of the Simchat Torah holiday last week, American Jews received the news of the untimely death of Rabbi Moshe Hauer, executive vice-president of the Orthodox Union (OU), the denomination’s primary organization in the U.S. An admired and beloved figure, Hauer had unusually close relationships with rabbis from other streams of Judaism.
