The Canadian Rabbi Who Passed Off Sherlock Holmes Fan Fiction as a Lost Rabbinic Manuscript

While few today have heard of the Polish-Canadian rabbi Yudel Rosenberg, most are familiar with the legend he fabricated about Rabbi Judah Loew of Prague (a/k/a the Maharal) creating a golem. Rosenberg, a prolific and popular writer, included this story in one of several works he claimed were previously unpublished Hebrew manuscripts, but were in fact his own inventions.
