The Deep Roots of Christian Zionism Have Nothing to Do with Messianic Prophecies

In recent years, a movement has emerged of “Christian nationalists” who endorse a combination of conservative Christianity, hostility toward immigration, and isolationism—sometimes along with darker impulses as well. Some of them have turned against both Zionism and the Jews, and been given new attention by media figures such as Tucker Carlson. Fighting a war for evangelical hearts and minds, they have taken to labeling Christian Zionism a “heresy.”
