In the city of Kiryat Gat—southwest of Jerusalem, and just under twelve miles from the northeast corner of Gaza—lies the headquarters of the Civil-Military Coordination Center (CMCC). Established in October 2025, its original task was to monitor the Hamas-Israel cease-fire and to supervise the entry of humanitarian aid into the Strip. It is this office, directed by General Patrick Frank of U.S. Central Command, that will implement President Trump’s plans for a postwar Gaza. Indeed, the CMCC is already hard at work figuring out exactly how those plans will become reality. Ariel Kahana describes what he saw when he visited:
