The UK’s Sanctions on Israel Reflect the Collapse of Strategic Thinking
Westminster is more interested in punishing Israelis than in helping Palestinians.
On Tuesday, the British foreign secretary Ed Miliband announced an outright ban on all commerce with Israelis living in Judea and Samaria. (The government is still considering whether these should be applied to east Jerusalem as well.) Miliband also announced other sanctions and punitive measures, going so far, in his desire to see the area cleansed of its Jewish inhabitants, to accuse Israel of “ethnic cleansing.” Jon Mendelsohn, a member of Britain’s House of Lords, responds:
