As Israel is slowly coming around about Qatar, it seems that the U.S. may finally be ready to change its tune about another Gulf state fond of playing both sides: Oman. While Muscat has nothing like Doha’s vast and sinister influence operations, it too puts itself forward as a mediator while facilitating America’s enemies: Israeli officials often visit the country for covert meetings with Arab leaders; it hosted negotiations between Iran and the Obama administration; it is home to a Houthi headquarters and Iranian corporations; and it cooperates with the Islamic Republic in the Strait of Hormuz.
