Turkey Is Positioning Itself on Two of Israel’s Borders. Should Jerusalem Worry?

A look back at Ankara’s intervention in Syria.

The collapse of the Assad regime in Syria almost a year ago was undoubtedly a boon for Jerusalem and a defeat for the Russia-Iran-Hizballah axis. Indeed, it couldn’t have happened had Israel not defanged Hizballah in Lebanon earlier that year. Yet, at the same time, the rebel assault that brought about Bashar al-Assad’s fall was undertaken with the support of Turkey, a regional power that hosts Hamas officials, whose leader frequently condemns and threatens Israel and Jews, and whose ruling party, like Hamas, is a Muslim Brotherhood offshoot.
