The Likud party held its primary yesterday and, although overall turnout was relatively low, a surprisingly high number of Haredim voted. The haredi population tends to align with the right, but historically votes for its own parties. At the same time, a new haredi party has been created, the Haredi Public, although it remains to be seen whether it will meet the electoral threshold necessary to obtain seats in the Knesset. Its leader, Moti Leiner, recently outlined his platform in an English-language haredi publication, based on his listening tour of haredi communities across Israel:
