What It Would Take for Negotiations with Iran to Work

Long-term results must outweigh optics.

If negotiators in Oman come up with some sort of agreement, Iran might be able to avoid further U.S. attacks and even see a loosening of sanctions. It’s also possible that American strikes could render Tehran much more pliable, and that Washington could obtain a deal then. But what should an agreement look like, and how would it avoid the mistakes of the 2015 deal concluded by the Obama administration?
