Without Regime Change in Beirut or Tehran, Israel Won’t Put an End to Hizballah

But it can, and must, keep fighting.

On Saturday and Sunday, Israel carried out a total of five airstrikes on vehicles just south of Beirut, outside of the southern part of Lebanon where most of the fighting has been concentrated since the April 16 cease-fire. On Tuesday, the IDF announced that a reconnaissance unit, backed by air support, had conducted a weeklong raid north of the Litani River, engaging Hizballah fighters and clearing a small area. The Iranian proxy group meanwhile has continued a steady trickle of attacks with drones, anti-take missiles, and mortars.
