Zohran Mamdani Damns America on Its Birthday

In stark contrast to the gratitude of most immigrants.

One reason American Jews are so grateful for their country—and have been for most of their history—is that so many are just two or three generations (or less) removed from immigrants who suffered persecution, discrimination, and slaughter in the lands of their birth. Indeed, such attitudes are common among various immigrant groups, who have something with which to compare America’s freedom, opportunity, and abundance. But New York City’s Mayor Zohran Mamdani—born to wealth and privilege in Uganda—has a much less typical view, one that he shared in his July 4 peroration. Noah Rothman writes:
