Why it matters for Israel.
The growing rivalry between Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, and the former’s decision to move closer to its erstwhile nemesis Qatar, has had ripple effects throughout the Middle East. For Egypt, which had good relations with both Riyadh and Abu Dhabi, it has created a new strategic dilemma. Complicating things further is the involvement of all four countries in various conflicts on all sides of the Red Sea.
