On Saturday, the Lebanese prime minister Nawaf Salam declared that the disarmament of Hizballah south of the Litani River “is only days away from completion,” and that the confiscation of weapons in the rest of the country will soon follow. The statement suggests Beirut’s eagerness to meet the December 31 deadline to comply with its end of the November 2024 cease-fire agreement.
