After the twin libels spread that Israelis had burned down a Palestinian church in the West Bank village of Taybeh and targeted another in Gaza, I noticed that some of the conversations on social media between pro-Israel and anti-Israel Christians deteriorated into Catholic-Protestant debates, some surprisingly vicious. (Most of the viciousness came from the anti-Israel side.) Tony Badran’s analysis helps make sense of why that was.
