The U.S. Should Rethink Its Middle East Bases

Is Israel a better location?

On July 9, Iranian missiles struck both the Al Udeid airbase in Qatar and the Azraq base in Jordan, both homes to numerous advanced American aircraft. Another attack on Azraq last week killed three U.S. servicemen and injured four others. The U.S. also maintains bases and other facilities in Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, and Saudi Arabia—all of which have come under Iranian fire in the past months.
