Why Israel Should Support Algerian Secessionists

While the Doha summit received comparatively little coverage in the international press, even less attention was paid to a meeting in Paris on Sunday where a separatist group from the area of northeast Algeria known as Kabylia declared independence. The Kabyle people are Berber (Amazigh), and preserve a variation of the language spoken in the region before the Arab conquest—a more distant relative of Semitic languages like Arabic and Hebrew, as well as of ancient Egyptian.
